The
fileempty function determines whether or not a file is empty and has no content. This function is useful for checking the status of files without needing to know the text encoding. An empty ANSI file is 0 bytes but an empty UTF-8 file is 3 bytes. The argument
file_name is either a string expression giving a file name or is a file handler declared in a
File statement in
PROC GLOBAL.
