The
countcases function counts the number of cases in a file referenced by
dictionary_name. The dictionary can be either the main input dictionary or an external dictionary. An optional logical
condition, referencing items in a dictionary, can be supplied to count the number of cases in the file that meet a certain criterion. When using this condition, the dictionary must be an external dictionary.
The function returns the number of cases in the file, or if a condition is given, the number of cases that meet that condition. If there is an error processing the file, the function returns
default.
