Reading Unicode

Post by CareMLE »

I have a newly developed CSPRO application. We need to type in HINDI and so we used UNICODE text.. Now all goes well..
But, when the data is exported into SPSS format, all the variable labels (UNICODE Hindi) are converted to '?????????????' text..

Any Idea friends?? :!:

Dear Friend

As per my knowledge SPSS will not read Unicode text, It will support to English only. Prepare SPSS value and variable labels separately in English.

Dear CareMLE

See attached SPSS 17 files with UNICODE variable labels and value labels.

Did you check the "Unicode output" option under Additional Options in the export tool? The default is to output the data in ANSI, but you can export the data in UTF-8, which later versions of SPSS can read.
