Converting CSPro Data Files to Other Formats

Conversion Overview
Data Viewer can be used to convert from one CSPro data file format to another. For example, you can:
  • Convert from a CSPro DB file to a text file.
  • Convert from a text file to a CSPro DB file.
When converting between these formats, in addition to the case contents, the following case-related data will also be converted:
  • Case labels
  • Case and field notes
  • Partial save statuses
  • Verification information
To convert a CSPro data file ...
  1. Open the data file.
  2. Click the File menu, select Save As, and then select Data.
  3. Enter a file name for the converted data file. If the file has the extension .csdb, the file will be saved in CSPro DB format. If the file has the extension .csdbe, you will be prompted to enter a password, after which the file will be saved in Encrypted CSPro DB format. If any other file extension is used, the file will be saved to a format based on the data source associated with the extension.
Additional Conversion Operations
By clicking the File menu, selecting Save As, and then selecting Dictionary, you can create the dictionary file (.dcf) that is embedded within a CSPro DB file.
By clicking the File menu, selecting Save As, and then selecting Notes, you can copy a data file's notes to a separate file. A CSPro dictionary that can read the notes data will also be generated.
