Getting access to the data from the tablet CSEntry app

Post by cognazor »

Hi,

After creating cases in the CSEntry tablet application, how do I get access to the data? I am not seeing any .dat files being created in the tablet CSpro folder.

Thanks

It created a file with no extension that seems to be the data file. I added the .dat extension and then tried to select it by choosing the export data option on my pc, but is says "file not found".

The name of the data file on the tablet will be the same as it is when you run the application on your device (unless you modify the .pff file).

Make sure that you have "hide known file extensions" disabled on your PC (set this in Windows Explorer settings) so that you can actually see the file extensions. You may have the wrong file.

You may also need to reboot your tablet to see the data file (see http://csprousers.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1081).

Cognazor, I'm experiencing the same problem as you are. After testing a few different things with old and new surveys I have I think it has to do with the run .pff document that you create in CSPro and then move with the .pen file to CSEntry. I haven't been able to figure out what the specifics are, if it's how it's created, named, or stored.

I took an old survey's .pen and .pff and put them on my new tablet and when I ran through them they generated the files perfectly including the .pen file. When I took that old CSPro application, renamed it and saved it, generating a new .pen file and then creating a .pff file by clicking Run as if I was going to test it and saving the test files in the same folder. Using these new .pen and .pff files gave me the same problem i'm experiencing now of not creating the .pen data file after running through a test in CSEntry.

Any ideas or insights as to what we're doing wrong here would be much appreciated.
