CSPro Synchronization Issue Following Android Auto Update

Post by Bishnu »

I am forwarding this message regarding an issue we are experiencing with our CSPro data collection system and would greatly appreciate your guidance.

We are currently running a field survey using CSPro 8.0.1 with FTP synchronization. Recently, multiple Android interviewer devices began experiencing synchronization failures after what appears to have been an automatic application update.

The devices are displaying the following errors:

"FTP4j.FTPException: Create dictionary operation failed"
"No application on server; use the deploy application tool to add one"

The issue appeared simultaneously across multiple devices, leading us to suspect that an Android auto-update may have introduced a version compatibility problem with our existing deployment.

Our primary concern is preserving the interview data currently stored on the Android devices. We have instructed interviewers not to uninstall the application, clear data, or make configuration changes until we receive guidance.

I would not recommend upgrading to 8.1 midstream of your survey. For the FTP issues, please check your ftp configuration and make sure that the permissions for the user syncing has read/write permissions.

Please see the troubleshooting section
https://www.csprousers.org/help/CSPro/s ... ation.html

If you are unable to resolve, send us the sync.log file from the device

Hello,
I have a problem with CSWeb CSPro 8.1. Since the beta version, I have not been able to deploy the dictionaries on the server. I can deploy the applications but the server. When I do, here is the message I found in the log:
026-06-25 10:09:34,522 INFO: Uploading dictionary file: D:\proj\egep\egep_22\dic\EGEP 2022 - COUNTING SHEET.dcf
2026-06-25 10:09:35,509 ERROR: Error server response:
2026-06-25 10:09:35,509 ERROR: Internal Server Error
2026-06-25 10:09:35,509 ERROR: Error uploading dictionary: Error 500
2026-06-25 10:09:35,509 ERROR: Error uploading dictionary as part of package EGEP 2022: Error 500
2026-06-25 10:10:03,041 ERROR: Error uploading package: Error 500.
Has anyone had this problem with CSWeb 8.1?
How to fix it?

I had another problem with CSPro 8.1. I wanted to modify the value of a “configuration settings” value. When we click on modify, the value changes, but when we launch the application it is the old value which is returned. I have had to do this several times. It was after modifying and then closing the computer that the value changed. Has anyone experienced this type of problem?

Thanks for any help on both of these issues.

Please send us logs from var/logs folder located in csweb install directory to cspro@lists.census.gov with steps to reproduce the problem.
