I am collecting the GPS coordinates during the mapping work. I wonder if it is possible to install an application on the tablets that can accelerate the taking of GPS coordinates

The combination of desired accuracy and read time will have a direct effect on the time to get a GPS reading. This might be worth tweaking. Also, CSPro 7.3 included an improvement to make use of Google's Fused Location Provider while indoors. I'm not confident you could install 3rd party program and boast your GPS capabilities.
