Upgrade to 7.4 Error: SQLSTATE[42000]

I'm trying to upgrade an existing instance of CSWeb to the new 7.4. I'm using MySql v5.6.47. I'm getting the following error after setting the configuration info:
CSWeb: Upgrade Database
Upgrading to version 4...
Error: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1071 Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes
Any ideas what is causing this and the best way to handle it?
