Data entry forms

Hi,
I would like to know how to avoid entering a variable value which is out of its range.
For example, the value set for “sex” is: “1” for male and “2” for female. In the data entry form, if I type “9” for sex then Enter, the OUT OF RANGE message appears and the filed appears yellow instead of green. Unfortunately I can move to the next field (question) by using the mouse and the “9” becomes green.
Is there any way to ban entering a variable value out of its value set?
Thank you
Rebecca
