I am testing a CSPro data entry on a PDA and I encountered the following problem. I associated value labels to many variables and used "Text box" as a "Field capture type". Labels are associated to numbers (0, 1, 2, etc). In the PDA, if I select the first option in the list the application warm me that that option is out of range and ask me to enter a valid value (any first option, regardless the values and labels). If I click on the second option everything is fine. It works fine if I use "Radio bottom" -- An option I am less keen to use since somehow it slows down the loading of questions.
I am aware that the PDA version is no longer supported, but I really appreciate any insight you may have on this.
Thank you,
Giacomo

If can help, I tried to set the field as "Drop Down" and again the first options are not working.

Re: [Data entry on PDA]: Text Box
You are right about this being a problem. I tested this on a Windows Mobile 6.5 device and I also cannot select the first row on the Text Box and Drop Down properties. I wonder if this is a bug related to WM 6 or 6.5, because I feel confident in saying that the developers of the CSPro version for PDAs surely would have noticed such a bug (when the program was developed using WM 5).
Strangely, if you go backwards (by clicking on previous) into the field, the first row is selectable.
As you mentioned, unfortunately the Census Bureau no longer supports WM devices, in part because it's hard to find them anymore, so your best bet will be to use radio buttons.

Thanks Martin for your comments. I experience the same behaviour. Radio bottoms are now the default.

I am having the same problem on my cspro yet it is not the pda version. I have tried changing to radio buttons but still some of my options which are in the value set are bringing errors that its out of range. An insight on this will really help

If you could post your app we could take a look and see what is going on.
