How to delete the data from the tablet after synchronisation

Post by Ahlin »

Dears
Hope you are well. Please, is there a possibility to delete the data by logic from the tablet after the synchronisation of the data on the server? If yes, can you help.

Best regards,
Jules

You don't want to delete the data tablet after synchronization unless you are completely done collecting data and will not sync anymore. This is because if you delete a case on the tablet then the next time you synchronize the corresponding case will be marked as deleted on the server.

Dear Josh, my goal is to hide the data on the tablet so that anyone who is in the possession of the tablet can not see the data.

Your best bet would be to switch to a new data file rather than deleting the cases in the existing data file. This way you won't see the old cases in CSPro but they won't be deleted from the server.

Personally I would just have the interviewer put a good lock password on the tablet so that if someone gets the tablet they won't able to get to the data. When you do that Android encrypts the storage so it is near impossible to get to the data without the password.

Hello Josh, can explain more what do you mean by switch to a new data file?

You would need to modify the pff file to use a data file with a new name. You would probably do that using a menu program that writes out the pff file.
