Problems under Windows 8, even with the 5.02 beta

I'm just learning CSPro, and I'm having a devil of a time getting it up and running under Windows 8.
I've tried installing 5.0, 5.01, and now the 5.02 beta. Versions prior to the current beta crashed during attempts to create a new data entry application, usually with a "Dictionary file could not be opened" error message. 5.02 will, however, allow me to create a new data dictionary, and a new form specification utilizing that data dictionary, so that's a good thing.
But 5.02 still fails to create a new data entry application. What happens is, I enter a name for the new application, and then enter a name for the input dictionary. It asks to create it, I say yes, and it then says "Dictionary file could not be opened."
The beta will also out and out crash if I start to create a new data entry application, data dictionary, or form specification but then select an existing app/dictionary/specification file from the file dialog that pops up (it crashes right after it says the file already exists, so it's error checking does get that far).
I'm surprised by this behavior because this seems like a mature and well thought out application, and I'd love to use it. I'm hoping this fragility is specific to Wondows 8, and temporary, and that under earlier versions of Windows it's rock solid.
Anyway, two questions: Any suggestions about how to make CSPro more stable under Windows 8? And how robust has this application been under earlier versions of Windows?
Thanks!
