Excel to CSPro - Dictionary Macro

Post by langitluna »

Hi Expert

I need help please. I can not paste Dictionary that I create from Excell from Dictionary Macro.
CMIAW, If I am using Excel to create the dictionary It will save much time rather than create directly from CSPro Dictionary Editor.
I have thousands field / variables to create.

I found a tools on Dictionary Macro on the Menu, that I believe CSPro can copy and paste Dictionary that created on Excel.
This step what I did: (Would you please the screenshoot)

1. As first I copy Dictionary from Dictionary Macro, and paste to excel.
2. From this, I am continuing to add more variable and labels
3. Then I copy all, and Paste All from Dictionary Macro.
But nothing change.

Perhaps I miss something, anybody can guide me please ?

Thank you very much

Dear langitluna;

Dictionary Macros is for editing in Dictionary names and labels and Value sets instead additions.
The shortest way which i know is:

1. Add only Records in cspro then
2. Go to Dictionary Macros
3. Add number of items in each record under "items to Records" option (for guidance see attached file)
4. After third slide go to Dictionary Macros and click on "Copy all" under Dictionary Names and Labels and past it in Excel. Make all the changes and copy from excel to CSPro.

I hope it works for you or josh can reply in a better way.

Arshad's advice is correct. That is why we added the "Add Items to Records" function. Because you can only edit entries, not add or delete them, that feature allows you to easily add the entries and then use "Paste All" to get the information from Excel.

Dear langitlune

You can handle field length only.
