Preventing the automatic installation of a new version

Post by AriSilva »

Hi folks,
I have an ongoing survey that is using a special 7.7 version that you´ve provided me, to be able to connect to other applications.
It is working fine, but, for some reason, some DMCs are being updated automatically to 8.0.
Is there a way to guarantee and prevent that automatic update?

Hello,

See this blog post and this follow-up forum post for help on disabling automatic updates on Android. If disabling automatic updates for CSPro is not working, try disabling automatic updates for all applications.

Hope this helps,
Justin

Thanks, Justin,
We´ll try them.
By the way, another thing that is bothering us immensely is that, somehow, we do not know the reason, a csentry application is prevented of wrinting on the download folter. That is, when updating the applicaton, downloading it from the server, one of the initial tasks of the application is to write some files to the dowload folder, but when we look into it, it is empty, the files that supposedly should be there were not written.
This is happening in some DMCs (not all of them), and, apparently, one of the solutions we are trying is to reinitialize the dmc and try to reload the application from the server.
Do you have any idea why this is happening?

Hello,

Did you test to find what difference there was between DMCs where writing was possible versus those where it was not possible? For instance, some using a different version of CSPro or Android? Was this fixed by reinitializing and redownloading? Also see this post for more advice on how to write to the Downloads folder in logic. If you cannot find why writing to the downloads folder is not possible, then please attach or send us (at cspro@lists.census.gov) your application, along with details of what Android version you are using and when the error is occurring, so that we can test it.

Thank you,
Justin
