Allow main Csdb to support external dictionary/data

Post by htuser »

Dear Cspro Developer Team,
One of the main advantage of Csdb is that, it allow Csentry to use few files compare to .dat and .txt format. Greg informed me months ago that in a future release, resting files such as log and lst files would be also stored in Csdb. So we will have a single file to store all cspro data and metadata.

This is also necessary for external dictionary associated data file. By example, it's more convenient to writecase item values on the main csdb file: sync will be faster. It's also better to have all lookup data written in the main csdb file.

Accepting this, you'll pursuing the same idea of reduce the number of data and metadata file.

Best regards and thanks in advance for considering my request.

We've discussed this idea in the past. Our plan for 7.1 is to definitely add some kind of paradata to the CSPro DB file, so as we spec that out, we'll think about whether or not that file can wrap the data for multiple dictionaries.

Hi Greg,
Good news for considering this idea. This will improve the flexibility of Cspro.
By Example, now lookup data can be transformed to Csdb format and synchronized to Csweb, ftp, or Dropbox via DataViewer and external dictionary already loaded on Csweb . So, Csentry application can get them directly via sync (get).

It'll be very easy to change and modify lookup data who also will be more secure inside a Csdb protected password.

Also, using Writecase, we can write variable to external dcf who can be synced once and used by whatever enumerators using the same application.
