Greetings from Public Health Foundation of India !
The Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi (IIPH-D), established by the Public Health Foundation of India (www.phfi.org), has successfully been functioning as one of the nodal institutions for public health education, advocacy, research and practice by providing quality public health training to graduates of diverse disciplines. Apart from conducting full time academic courses, we also have been organizing several short term trainings. As a part of ‘Workshops on Research Data Management’ we are inviting applications for a four day workshop on ‘CSpro for Surveys' scheduled on August 19 - 22, 2014.
Data management plays a crucial role in ensuring quality of research data. A well designed database is one of the key components of data management. There are several software packages that are available for this purpose. However, irrespective of the type of database, a lot of planning and thought that goes into the designing of a database depending upon the study design, study setting and the manpower available. CSpro is a public domain data management and statistical package developed and maintained by the US Census Bureau, which can be used for entering, editing, tabulating, mapping, and disseminating census and survey data.

• Introduction to CSPro working environment
• Data structures and Data types
• Designing a data entry application for a survey
I. Creating data dictionary
II. Logic checks and skip patterns
III. Double data entry method
• Database validation
• Data validation
I. Batch Edit Application
• Tabulation Application
• Data transfer to other statistical software
• Data base backup and archiving

Participants are encouraged to bring any case report forms (CRF’s)/ Questionnaire relevant to their job responsibilities. Most of the sessions involve hands on practical work and demonstrations with each participant allocated an exclusive computer. At the end of this training, the participant will be confident in preparing data entry application for a survey questionnaire with validation and logic checks, generating queries about the data, tabulation, and exportation of data in to different statistical packages.
Who should attend?
This 4 day introductory course is suitable for computer programmers, IT professionals, and subject-matter specialists such as statisticians, demographers, and economists who wish to use CSPro to manage survey or other quantitative data. Applicant are not expected to have previous experience using CSPro but must be comfortable with Windows Operating system based software. It is desirable if participants are familiar with using basic scripting language.

Indian participants:9600 INR per participant
International participants:19200 INR per participant
Accommodation (Optional):4000 INR per national/ international participant for four days student hostel accommodation (Double occupancy (Non-AC) including meals)
