I am interest to check in the data files if there questionnaires/cases which are partially saved or in edit mode and reject them to sync until they are completed and submitted.

You can use the ispartial() function to determine if a questionnaire is partial in either add or edit mode. There is no way to "reject" a case in sync. However, after syncing you can run batch app or have a menu program that uses ispartial() to list the partially saved cases and then contact the interviewers responsible for those cases. You can also have a menu program that runs on the interviewers device that checks for partial cases before the sync and gives the interviewer a message.

Dear Josh,

It would be very helpful, if we could stop syncing "partial" cases from mobile devices to the server because sometimes the data viewer stops data synchronization. This creates problems and puts question mark on the reliability of CSPro handling data.

Also, partial cases are not helpful for analysis. Maybe, you can add a parameter to the sync function which can only sync completed cases.

Thanking you in anticipation!

Are you suggesting that the internet cutting out can lead to a complete case being synchronized as a partial case? One motivation to sync partial data to the server is back up the progress, so a lost tablet doesn't lead to lost work.

A partially saved case maybe logically complete. For instance, if you complete a case, open the case in modify mode, and then partially save it. I often add a variable at the end of a questionnaire to signify whether the case is logically complete.

The sync issue with partial save is fixed in CSWeb 8.0.
