Cspro7.0 synchronisation

Post by Leon111 »

Hie, the IP we use on server to synchnonise data in cspro, is it just the IP or we need Public IP from Service Provider. i need more education on server synchronisation on Cspro 7.0

want to synchronise more than 100 tablets from different location.

2. How best can i change data files from each tablet so as to avoid duplicates when sending data to Server.

Thank you.

To use CSWeb based synchronization and you are using the tablets outside your local network then the IP address needs to be public. It works the same as any website. If you want to access a website outside then the IP needs to be public. It can still be on a physical server in your office but it has to have a public exposed outside the firewall. If you don't know how to set up a web server (or don't have someone who can help you) you should consider using Dropbox based synchronization instead of CSWeb. Dropbox doesn't require any server or IP. You just need a free Dropbox account.

In CSPro 7.0 synchronization you should not get duplicates on the server unless two interviewers both enter a case with the same case ids. You should set up your survey operation to avoid assigning two interviewers to the same household. Unlike synchronization in CSPro 6, the CSPro 7 synchronization does not send every case to the server each time. It only sends new cases and cases that have been modified. In addition, when you download the data from the server (using DataViewer) it combines all the cases together into a single data file so you no longer need to use unique file names for each tablet or concatenate data files from each tablet together.
