Re: RDBMS data's storage tools

I hope that a RDBMS interface will come out in the next 6-9 months, but it's hard to know what the future holds. Would you want the interface accessible for all aspects of CSPro (data entry, editing, tabulation, and the tools), or would the RDBMS being accessible in Entry and Export be sufficient fo...

Re: Data entry over the web

The development team has not programmed anything like this yet. The future goals of CSPro include web-based data entry, so this is something that is on the radar. I would guess that both RDBMS support and an Android version will be released before HTML-based data entry, but having a RDBMS interface ...

Re: Changing the Language Settings for CSPro

Thanks for the note. The link actually pointed to the correct file, but the name of the link was misleading. I have fixed this problem.

Re: creation of graphical

Hello, What exactly are you trying to do? Right now, CSPro can't be easily interfaced by other software packages. In the future, there is talk that the Census Bureau will write wrapper libraries that expose much of CSPro to people using other programming languages. Are you thinking that you will tak...

Changing the Language Settings for CSPro

A program has been posted on the tools page that automates the process of changing the CSPro language settings. Previously this could be done by editing the registry, but this program will do it more simply. This tool was developed for the Armenian 2011 census keying operation. The language settings...

Re: Handling more than 10 lists in a checkbox

This can be added to the list of feature requests. One think to consider in the meantime is that if you modify your dictionary for tabulation and turn that alpha field into an item with multiple occurrences, you can tabulate it as long as you don't use letters in the checkboxes. So, as an example, i...

Re: What brand and model of tablet do you recommend to use t

Another device to look at is the Archos 9 Tablet, which one group bought several of for a survey.

Next year Windows 8 tablets should be coming out, which are going to add a lot of functionality, so if you can wait, you may want to hold off a large purchase for some months.

Re: Handling more than 10 lists in a checkbox

In the release version of CSPro 4.1.001, you could only use the numbers 0-9 or the letters A-Z for the multiple check boxes. So if you used 1-9, A-F, as an example, you would make the length of the field 15. In the new beta versions that are available, you can use numbers higher than 9. For example,...

Re: What brand and model of tablet do you recommend to use t

Two major survey groups that I have worked with recommend the Asus Eee PC Touch and the Samsung NB30. I have no experience with either model, but those are the suggestions. Things to consider when looking at models include weight, battery life, screen glare, ruggedness, service contract availability...
